Vildus 50

Presentation:

Vildus 50 is available as tablets containing 50 mg of vildagliptin for oral administration. The tablets may have specific markings or colors as detailed on the product packaging.

Indications:

Vildus 50 is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabeticagents, including metformin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, or insulin, when a single agent does not provide adequate glycemic control.

Dosage and Administration:

The recommended dose of Vildus 50 is 50 mg once or twice daily.

• When used as monotherapy or in dual combination with a thiazolidinedione or metformin, the usual dose is 50 mg once daily or 50 mg twice daily (morning and evening).
• When used in dual combination with a sulfonylurea, the recommended dose is 50 mg once daily in the morning.
• Vildus 50 can be taken with or without food.
• The dosage should be individualized based on the patient's response and tolerability.
• No dosage adjustment is usually required in elderly patients or those with mild renal impairment. However, caution should be exercised in patients aged 75 years and older.
• In patients with moderate or severe renal impairment or end-stage renal disease, the recommended dose is 50 mg once daily.
• Vildus 50 is not recommended for use in patients under 18 years of age.

Side Effects:

The majority of side effects reported with vildagliptin have been mild and transient. Common side effects may include:

• Nausea
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Fatigue
• Tremor
• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) may occur when Vildus 50 is used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas.

Less common side effects may include constipation, peripheral edema, and arthralgia. Rare cases of hepatic dysfunction have been reported.

Precautions:

Before taking Vildus 50, inform your doctor about any pre-existing medical conditions, especially:

• Kidney disease
• Liver disease
• History of pancreatitis
• Heart failure

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis. Liver function tests should be performed prior to the initiation of Vildus 50, every three months for the first year, and periodically thereafter. If liver enzyme levels become significantly elevated, treatment with Vildus 50 should be discontinued.

Vildus 50 should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medication. It is not known if vildagliptin passes into breast milk.

Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, andherbal supplements, as drug interactions may occur.

Alcohol consumption should be avoided or limited as it can affect blood sugar levels.

Storage:

Store Vildus 50 tablets below 30°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep the medication out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date mentioned on the packaging.
