Viptin Plus 500 

Presentation:Viptin Plus 500 Tablet, available in Bangladesh, is a combination tablet containing Vildagliptin 50 mgand Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg.

Indications:Viptin Plus is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus  whose diabetes is not adequately controlled on metformin or vildagliptin alone, or who are already treated with the combinationof vildagliptin and metformin as separate tablets.  

Dosage and Administration:Thedosage should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability, without exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose of vildagliptin (100 mg) and metformin (2550 mg). It is usually administered twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening, with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. Patients receiving vildagliptin and metformin as separate tablets may be switched to Viptin Plus containing the same total daily doses of each component.

Side Effects:Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and tremor.Hypoglycemia may occur when Viptin Plus is used in combination with other antidiabetic agents like sulfonylureas or insulin. Other potential side effects related to metformin include abdominal discomfort and loss of appetite.  

Precautions: Viptin Plus is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to vildagliptin or metformin, severe renal impairment (eGFR < 60 mL/min), acute or chronic metabolic acidosis (including diabetic ketoacidosis), and type 1 diabetes. It is not recommended in patients with congestive heart failure. Caution should be exercised in patients with moderate renal impairment, liver disease, and those with a history of pancreatitis. Metformin is associated with a rare but serious risk of lactic acidosis, especially in patients with renal impairment.Alcohol consumption should be avoided.

Storage:Store Viptin Plus 500 tablets in a cool and dry place, protected from light and moisture.Keep out of reach of children.
