Presentation: Volibo 0.3 Tablet, available in Bangladesh, contains Voglibose 0.3 mg as the active pharmaceutical ingredient. It is formulated as an oral tablet and is typically available in strips.

Indications: Volibo is indicated for the management of postprandial hyperglycemia (a significant rise in blood glucose levels after meals) in adult patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is prescribed as an adjunct to dietary management and exercise regimens. Volibo can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents to achieve better glycemic control.

Dosage and Administration: The usual starting dose for adult patients is 0.2 mg administered orally three times a day, immediately before each main meal. Based on the individual patient's blood glucose response and tolerance, the dosage may be gradually increased to 0.3 mg three times a day. The tablets should be taken just prior to consuming the first bite of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Dosage adjustments should be made under the guidance of a healthcare professional.

Side Effects: The most commonly reported side effects associated with Voglibose are related to the gastrointestinal system. These include flatulence (excessive gas), abdominal distension or discomfort, increased frequency of bowel movements (diarrhea), and abdominal pain. These side effects are generally mild to moderate in intensity and often tend to subside with continued use as the body adjusts to the medication. Less frequent side effects may include nausea, vomiting, and skin rashes.

Precautions: Volibo is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to voglibose or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should also not be used in individuals with diabetic ketoacidosis, severe infections, chronic intestinal diseases associated with marked disorders of absorption or digestion, conditions predisposing to intestinal obstruction, or a history of major surgical procedures of the intestine. Caution should be exercised when prescribing Volibo to patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders or liver dysfunction. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is essential during treatment.
