Volidus 0.2 

Presentation: Each tablet contains Voglibose INN 0.2 mg. Available in strips.

Indications: Indicated for type 2 diabetes mellitus:

• As monotherapy in non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) patients.
• In combination with other oral hypoglycemic agents.
• As an adjunct to insulin. Also indicated for the prevention of the onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus in individuals with impaired glucose tolerance.

Dosage and Administration: Usual adult dose is 0.2 mg orally three times a day, immediately before each meal. May be increased to 0.3 mg per dose if effect is insufficient. Lower starting dose (e.g., 0.1 mg per dose) may be considered in elderly patients.

Side Effects: Unlike some other antidiabetic drugs, overdose unlikely to cause hypoglycemia. May cause transient increases in flatulence, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort. Other potential effects: loose stools, abdominal pain, constipation, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, increased intestinal gas (may mimic intestinal obstruction).

Precautions: Limit use to established diabetes. Caution in patients receiving other antidiabetic drugs (may increase hypoglycemia risk when combined), history of laparotomy or ileus, chronic intestinal diseases affecting digestion/absorption, Roemheld's syndrome, severe hernia, stenosis or ulceration of large intestine, serious hepatic or renal dysfunction, elderly patients (more susceptible to GI effects). Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to voglibose or components.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
