Xytrex 10 Tablet - (10mg Olanzapine)

Presentation: Each tablet contains 10 mg of Olanzapine. 

Indications: Xytrex 10 is indicated for the acute and maintenance treatment of schizophrenia and related psychoses, managing both positive (e.g., delusions, hallucinations) and negative (e.g., flattened affect, social withdrawal) symptoms. It is also used for the treatment of acute manic or mixed episodes in bipolar disorder.

Dosage and Administration: The usual starting dose for schizophrenia is 5-10 mg once daily. For acute mania, the starting dose is 15 mg once daily for monotherapy or 10 mg once daily in combination therapy. Dosage is adjusted by the doctor based on individual response, within a range of 5-20 mg daily. It can be taken without regard to meals. Gradual tapering of the dose is recommended when discontinuing.

Side Effects: Very common side effects include sleepiness and weight gain. Other common side effects may include increased appetite, elevated glucose and triglyceride levels, dizziness, restlessness (akathisia), muscle stiffness, abnormal movements, low blood pressure upon standing, constipation, dry mouth, weakness, swelling, and sensitivity to sunlight.

Precautions: Inform your doctor of any allergies or conditions like narrow-angle glaucoma. Use caution with alcohol and other centrally acting drugs. May affect blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Use in pregnancy only if benefits outweigh risks; breastfeeding is not recommended. May cause drowsiness, so caution when driving or operating machinery.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
