Indications:Zemicef (Cefixime) is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including: Â
Dosage and Administration:The dosage of Zemicef depends on the type and severity of the infection, as well as the patient's age and weight.Always follow your doctor's prescription.For adults, the usual dose is 400 mg daily, administered as a single dose or in two divided doses (200 mg every 12 hours).For children, the recommended dose is usually 8 mg/kg/day, administered as a single daily dose or in two divided doses (4 mg/kg every 12 hours).The powder needs to be reconstituted with the specified amount of water as mentioned on the bottle label to create the suspension. Shake the suspension well before each use and administer orally. Zemicef can be taken with or without food. Â
Pharmacology:Cefixime is a bactericidal antibiotic that works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall.It is stable in the presence of many beta-lactamase enzymes, which can break down other antibiotics. Â
