Zico 

Presentation: Tablets containing Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate. May be dispersible. Available in strips.

Indications: Treatment and prevention of zinc deficiency due to inadequate diet, malabsorption, trauma, burns, diarrhea, protein loss. Essential for immunity, wound healing, taste, smell, growth, enzymes.

Dosage and Administration: Depends on age/condition. Adults/children >30 kg: 1-2 tablets 1-3 times daily after food. Children <10 kg (syrup if available): 5 ml twice daily after food. Children 10-30 kg (syrup if available): 10 ml 1-3 times daily after food. Dispersible tablets: dissolve in water. Best 1 hr before or 2 hrs after meals, with food if GI upset.

Side Effects: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, heartburn, gastritis.

Precautions: Contraindicated in zinc hypersensitivity. Caution in acute renal failure (accumulation). Separate zinc intake from tetracyclines/quinolones (3 hr interval). Separate from penicillamine.

Storage: Dry place, away from light/heat. Keep out of reach of children.
