Zoana 

Presentation: Zoana, available in Bangladesh, typically contains Nitazoxanide and is available in various strengths such as 500 mg tablets. It is a product of Orion Pharma Ltd. and is usually available in blister packs.

Indications: Zoana (Nitazoxanide) is indicated for the treatment of diarrhea caused by susceptible protozoa such as:

• Giardia lamblia
• Cryptosporidium parvum
• Entamoeba histolytica

It may also be used for the treatment of certain worm infections as determined by a healthcare professional.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage depends on the age of the patient and the type of infection. For adults and children over 12 years, the usual dose for the tablet form is 500 mg every 12 hours for 3 days, administered orally with food. For children, suspension forms are available with weight-based dosing; always follow the physician's instructions.

Side Effects: Common side effects reported with Nitazoxanide may include abdominal pain, vomiting, and headache. These are usually mild and transient. Less common side effects can include nausea, anorexia, flatulence, and discolored urine.

Precautions: Zoana (Nitazoxanide) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Nitazoxanide or any of its components. Caution should be exercised when co-administering with other highly plasma protein-bound drugs. It should be used with caution in patients with hepatic or renal disease.

Use in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: There are limited data on the use of Nitazoxanide in pregnant women; it should be used only if clearly needed. Nitazoxanide has been shown to be excreted in human milk, so caution should be exercised during breastfeeding.

Storage: Keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children. Store below 30°C.
