Zofra ODT 8 Tablet contains Ondansetron 8 mg in an orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) formulation. It is manufactured by Eskayef Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Indications:

Zofra ODT is used for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting caused by:

• Chemotherapy
• Radiation therapy
• Surgery

Pharmacology:

Ondansetron is a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. Serotonin (5-HT) is a natural substance in the body that can cause nausea and vomiting. Ondansetron works by blocking the action of serotonin at 5-HT3 receptors in the vomiting center of the brain and in the digestive tract.

Dosage and Administration:

The dosage of Zofra ODT 8 will depend on the cause of nausea and vomiting and your doctor's instructions. The tablet is designed to dissolve quickly on the tongue and can be swallowed with saliva; water is not needed.

General dosage guidelines:

• Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting: Typically, one 8 mg tablet is taken 30 minutes to 1 hour before chemotherapy. Subsequent doses may be given as directed by your doctor.
• Radiation-induced nausea and vomiting: Usually, one 8 mg tablet is taken 1-2 hours before radiation treatment.
• Post-operative nausea and vomiting: A single dose of 16 mg (two 8 mg tablets) may be given 1 hour before anesthesia, or as directed by your doctor.
